Sell Your Home Secrets

by Robert Earl

Many of us know that in order to sell your home, it must have a particular appeal. Although it has been said that there's at least one individual out there for each home, whether the home is located in northern Virginia or western Alaska, it does not hurt to have as many people as you can get interested in buying the home. To this end, here are several ways to make the home more appealing to potential buyers.

An inviting home is one that is tidy and free of any visual clutter. Potential buyers should be able to see themselves living happily in your home. This is not possible if your untidiness in the home is overwhelming. A buyer needs to be able to focus on making the home their own instead of wondering why you didn't make up the beds and wash the dishes before you had a showing.

It may seem like a small detail, but washing your windows can be a big help in your efforts to sell your home. Giving potential buyers a clear look out your window to your well maintained lawn can make your home seem bigger. Even if you have a less than ideal view, a clean window can make it seem that much nicer.

Don't forget potential buyers look at things like: are the walls and ceilings painted, does the carpeting look ok for now or will they need to replace before they move in and how many holes are there in the walls that need repaired. If you make an effort to see what a potential buyer may see, before you sell your home, it may result in a better offer on your home.

Don't forget the appeal of the outside of your home as well. Be sure the lawn is well tended, with the grass mowed and shrubs trimmed. A planter of dead flowers is not appealing nor is a weed patch by the front door. Take note of any outdoor decks or porches and be sure they're free of dead leaves or other debris. If you have furniture in these areas, arrange it in an inviting way so that buyers can see themselves entertaining or relaxing here.

When a potential buyer of your home takes a walk through your home make sure the inside is as neat as the outside. Clean your windows, vacuum, clean the kitchen cabinets and floors and by all means clean the toilet and bathroom. If you have a garage make sure it is uncluttered so it looks big and roomy, and paint the floor if needed. If you don't have a garage and park your vehicle in a shed make sure it is free of clutter, hose the siding off or repaint it.

So, if you are selling a home at Parcreston Condos or that Alaskan igloo, clean it, declutter it, fix it up, do the yard work, wash the windows, and you will be on the way to a quick sale and a nice price for that home.
